JOE Mystery- Guitar and Vocals
Joe Mystery, the icon, the phenom, the show stopper and cult legend has a storied history of performing, musicianship and songwriting. At age 23, Joe's first originals act, the Metroverts, received airplay on NYC radio through disc jockey, Jim Kerr. In 1978, Joe formed the Joe Mystery Group and achieved success via music video play on Canadian, South American and NYC cable TV, and through appearances at CBGB’s and The Other End in New York City. In 1987, Joe opened his own home-based recording studio, OmniMix Studio. He returned to performing in 1994, appearing on the cable TV show, PowerPlay. In 1998, Joe and Controlio DeSalvo formed the King Lizards and released the CD Mondo Lizardo. Some of Joe’s best playing from that era can be found on this CD. In 2001, a reemergence of Joe Mystery Group occurred serendipitously when five Joe Mystery songs were voted #1 in the Classic Rock categories on the Sony AcidPlanet site. This led, in 2002, to Joe Mystery putting out a compilation album of seminal songs entitled, Classic Rock for the New Millennium. This album is available at CDBaby and other download sites on the Internet.
More recently, Joe has worked as a session player and band member on projects with Hip Hop pioneer Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC and with Jim "Controlio" DeSalvo, mastermind and vocalist of MotoMachine and owner of North Jersey's own BeanStudio Mastering.
MIKE "Tom Tom" Toohey- Drums and General Racket
Mike started playing drums in the Dover Jr. High School Concert band. He acquired his first drum set with the help of his grandfather, Papa “Andy” Susko, around the Christmas of 1968. He teamed up with classmates and future band mates Bill “Willie” Sutton and Ron Carrion when they discovered they enjoyed playing music together more then studying their Chem Tech Labs. This trio performed throughout their high school years. It also became the core foundation of the highly successful country rock band, Craig Canfield and the Cross Tie Walkers. The Cross Tie Walkers were the house band at Tierney’s Corner in Jefferson, NJ from 1973 till 1977. After a 20 year break, Mike started playing again with his brother-in-law Cliff Cardella and friend Mike"TheChillers"Brajer aka, Cliff & the Mic's . The group had a strong 12 year run. In 2008, Tom Tom met Joe Mystery in another project and the two meshed based on a common musical vision, forging ahead to form the new band, 2BIG 2fail, along with 4 string wonder, Mick daBomb, and singer extraordinaire, Jim "Cowboy Ozzie" DeFlumeri.
SIMON Sezz- Bass and Vocals
2Big 2fail scoured the earth for a new bass player and we were fortunate to find Simon from England. Simon’s first band was Contract in the mid-80s – a group of expatriates in Saudi Arabia with nothing else to do with their time than make music. After a long musical drought, Simon resurfaced in 1995 on the Brussels music scene with the 5-piece R&B band, The Steamers, plying their trade in many of the quaint Belgian bars. Another move in 1997 took Simon back to his motherland. After a spell of running his own theater company, Simon was back in the saddle in 2004 in a Blues Brothers tribute band. That, sadly, was short-lived with another move the following year to the US. After a brief period of acclimatization, Simon was recruited in 2006 by NJ legend Paul Ippolito to play with Ippy and The Project. Playing mostly original rock/blues material, the band grew in stature and popularity playing at Dexters, The Stanhope House and having a regular gig at the Dublin Pub in Morristown. There were also appearances on NJ Homegrown Radio, WOR radio, and the cable music show Horses Sing None Of It. Ippy and The Project stopped performing in early 2009 following a new addition to the Ippolito family, which forced Simon to start searching for his next project. This happily coincided with 2Big2Fail’s search for a bass player. The rest will be history.
